Q: AMD FX-8150 series have 8 cores,higher default clock and huge unlocking potential, why didnt it got chosen ?

In all benchmarks and game testing AMD FX failed to come even close to i5-2500k without latter being overclocked.That was indeed shocking . The main reason is pointed out in AMD FX's micro architecture which had a terrible flaw in coordinating  impressive multi-core processing.FX-8150 needs more power and produces more heat.Also most games wont even need 4 cores of perfomance.So i5-2500k is winner.

Q:  The Ivy core i5-3550 uses less power and performs better by under same speed. So shouldn't it be the winner?

First of all i5-2500k is an unleashed and unlocked processor-meaning it will have the power for huge overclocking, even with standard coolers. Actually a more valid comparison is between 3570k and 2500k. both have unlocked multipliers. At times when you feel you need a boost to your performance in some games, overclocking can really help you so i5-2500k prevails over i5-3500

Verdict: So there you have it. The ultimate winner is Core i5-2500k from Intel.
