Aakash Tablet Review & Specifications-Regret Buying It

Cheapest Tab On Planet

" A $35 Android Tablet-Is it worth buying?"

  Aakash tablets hands on review.....

It Wasn't long since Indian government decided to launch a $35 tablet targeting Indian students. The result was a compact tab called Aakash-World's cheapest tab manufactured by DATAWIND.Currently a total of 22 crore orders have been put on Datawind. Production is going slow to meet up the requirements. I actually got my hands on one of them.
Lets Find out what this gadget packs....

Specifications

Pros

  • For $35 you cant get more than this.
  • A good Screen Resolution Of 800x480
  • 7" Compact Screen Size
  • 2 - USB Ports which can help us to connect pen drives and Dongles, Which is a rare feature.
  • Upto 32 GB Expandable Memory
  • Small and Compact
  • Easy To Grip
  • Finally The Budget- Cheapest Tab You can Buy.
Cons

  • ARM11 366 MHz Processor? Are u kidding me? Its not even powerful enough for multitasking and many android apps. Even a Local Micromax Phone has way more processing power than Aakash.
  • Next thing- i am annoyed with is the resistive touch screen. Its crap. Too unresponsive. Sometimes i have to strike very hard in order to Do things.
  • After using for less than a hour it just heats up. Its a real fun killer.
  • The battery isn't impressive. It Only gave me a 3 hours or less in many situations. Leading me to always carry the charger along with me. Frustrating for any user.
  • Another negative is the absence of GPRS connectivity. If you are a student on a travel, you wont be able to access internet as it only supports WiFi.
  • Also it is Android 2.2 Froyo and i don't think they will let you update to later versions.
  • Android Market Place is absent on Aakash instead the installed GetJar. You will miss a lot of apps as getjar isn't that good with android apps.
 Verdict

"I cant actually say i am impressed by Whole Tablet experience from Aakash. For $35 its amazing deal to bargain. Even if you buy it, you wont have a very good feeling about it. many are expecting much more from this tab like me. But after using it i am very much disappointed. Datawind is going to release Aakash 2 With most of the drawbacks corrected. We'll review it as soon as we get hold of it."

    1. You shouldn't buy older Aakash tab. its not worth it. But if you wait a little longer New Aakash Tab 2 is about to release. It has Android ICS, 1GHZ processor, 512MB Ram and loads of more stuff than this. I think its under production now.

But if you want to buy this you have to book at DATAWIND website.
